Eligibility

Focuses on those that live within King County but open to anyone riding Metro transit. Household income must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Citizenship status is not a factor in determining eligibility.

Call for enrollment locations or to enroll over the phone or apply online. Some enrollment location information is available on the website.

Fees

Reduced fares: King County Metro buses is $1.00 per trip any time of day, for one- or two-zone travel. Sound Transit Link light rail is $1.00 Youth under 18 ride for free, Seattle Streetcar is $1.50; $1.00 (RRFP) Kitsap Transit is $1. 00 King County Water Taxi :
  • $4.50 between Downtown Seattle and West Seattle; $2.50 (RRFP)
  • $3.75 between Downtown Seattle and Vashon Island; $3.00 (RRFP)
Sound Transit Express bus trips: $1. 50 (youth and adult); $1.00(RRFP) Sounder is $2.50 to $4.25, depending on the length of the trip.

Offers a reduced-fare program for area residents whose household income is at 200% of the Federal Poverty Level or below. The card is valid for rides on the following:
  • King County Metro buses, ST Link Light Rail, Everett Transits & Pierce Transit
  • Sound Transit trains, buses and light rail
  • Seattle street cars
  • King County water taxis
The reduced fare must be paid with a valid ORCA LIFT card, which is registered and issued to each individual user. It works the same way a regular ORCA card does.
  • Use the E-Purse feature and place any amount between $5 and $300 on the ORCA LIFT card. This is a good choice if the card is used occasionally. When the user taps the card on the ORCA reader, the ORCA LIFT fare will be deducted from the E-purse.
  • A monthly PugetPass can be loaded on the ORCA LIFT card for unlimited rides for the entire month. This is a good choice for regular riders.
The ORCA LIFT card is valid for up to 24 months. After it expires, the ORCA LIFT card will charge regular adult fares, including any peak and zone charges, for rides. To continue paying the reduced fare, the cardholder will have to requalify for the ORCA LIFT program and get a new card.
