Classes include basic information about what mental illnesses are, how they are treated, types of medications and other therapies that are used, and information about recovery from mental illness.
Class members learn about typical emotional reactions - both their own and their loved one's.
Four of the classes are "workshops" in empathy, self-care, communications and problem solving.
Over the 12 weeks, participants share their family stories and gather strength from one another.
Class members often join NAMI's Family and Friends Support Group at the end of the series.

- Peer to Peer: a recovery-focused educational program for adults 18 and over to establish and maintain wellness in response to their mental health challenges by providing critical information and strategies relating to living with mental illness.
- Family and Friends: a 5-hour seminar for family members and friends of persons with a mental health condition.
- Ending the Silence: presentation for students, school staff, and parents regarding mental illness.
